I am one of your constituents, and I am humbly reaching out to you to help save our nation.
We just endured a pandemic that cost our country more than one million lives. Imagine what will happen if we have a vaccine skeptic in charge of crucial health organizations. Our country is one where different opinions should be welcomed and heard, but that doesn’t mean someone who denies proven facts and leverages repeatedly debunked conspiracy theories should be put in charge of our health infrastructure.
We recently learned that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s group, the Children’s Health Defense, petitioned the FDA in 2021 to revoke emergency use authorization of existing COVID vaccines — vaccines that studies show have saved millions of lives. There is no reason to believe that he will not make every effort to deny us access to vaccinations and erode public trust in these proven life-saving measures should he be confirmed. He has also spread antisemitic and xenophobic conspiracy theories about the pandemic — comments that threaten the safety of our people.
Tens of millions of Americans voted for President Trump, while tens of millions did not. Many of us are living in a state of fear regarding what is about to happen. You may disagree with us on issues, while frequently agreeing with Trump. But you were elected to represent us, not him.
RFK Jr.'s appointment would put all of us at risk. That includes your constituents but also you and your loved ones. Please use your position to vote against him and put the health and wellbeing of Americans before party.
